Things we love about Norwood ... the cafes

You’ll never be short of options if you’re after a quick caffeine hit in Norwood.

Considering the inner-eastern suburb's strong Italian heritage, it shouldn’t be a surprise that there are cafés dotted across the popular inner-eastern suburb.

Here are some of our favourites:

Caffe Buongiorno
Generous portions, friendly service and pocket-friendly prices have helped Buongiorno become a true Norwood institution.
The Italian staples of pizza and pasta are the stars of the show but there are still plenty of options if you’re after a lower-carb option.
The coffee is always on point, while fresh gelati and a solid range of cakes should satisfy those with a sweet tooth.
We’d recommend snaring one of the sheltered outside tables and watching the passing parade.

Argo on the Parade
You’ll have worked up an appetite by the time you’ve finished reading through Argo’s huge menu.
There’s a strong focus on ethical and sustainable food, with smoothie bowls, tossed salads and gourmet burgers among the most popular.
The drinks list is almost as extensive as the food choices, with concoctions like a keto-friendly Strawberry Cheesecake Smoothie, Run Like the Wind Pre-workout Smoothie and It’s Pearific Frappe.
Make sure you get there early, though. This place is so popular that it’s commonplace to have to queue for a table.

Pave Café
Don’t walk too quickly along The Parade or you’ll have missed Pave Café without even realising.
It’s a hot spot for cyclists who enjoy their morning hit of caffeine before wheeling their way to their final destination.
Pave offers both breakfast and brunch menus, as well as some daily blackboard specials.
With plenty of sheltered outdoor seating, we think it’s one of Norwood’s hidden gems.

Wholly Belly Kitchen
Not every quality Norwood café has to be on The Parade – and Wholly Belly is proof of that.
The central focus is a massive wood-fired oven that produces wonderful pizzas and handmade bagels.
The menu has continued to evolve, however, and there are now some more traditional breakfast offerings like ham-and-cheese croissants and bircher muesli.
And if you fancy the idea of having your own wood-fired oven in your backyard, the café’s sister business Traditional Brick Ovens is based in the same location.

The Lost Deli
Located about 250m off the city end of The Parade, the Lost Deli is a popular hangout for locals in the know.
The menu is organic, plant-based and changes to match the seasons.
The team is also proud of their coffee-making skills, while they also deliver a mean smoothie or healthy juice.
Check it out and live like a local.
