New laws impacting your rental property

Bond payments: If you have a property $800 per week or below, the amount you can request for a rental bond has reduced from six weeks rent to four weeks.

Advertised rental price: You can no longer advertise a price range for a property, you must use a single figure (for example $530 per week).

Please note: Fees for non-compliance to these changes are in excess of $5,000.

Future changes: There are a number of proposed changes in the pipeline that Consumer Business Services are considering. We are keeping an eye on these and are adjusting renting strategies and our advice to align with these changes. Our CEO, Suzannah Toop is on the Real Estate Institute of South Australia Board and is helping to provide a voice for landlords in SA. We are also delivering regular training to our team and updates to our landlords, so they are aware of the implications on their property.

We are here to help navigate you through the reforms and the legislative landscape. Please feel free to contact your property manager if you have any questions or would like additional information.
